Polyurethane Foam Used in Pyramis Kitchen Sinks - We Keep It Water Tight.

In a previous post we discussed the pros and cons of each type of sink installation. In the case of inset sinks, a concern may be water damaging the worktop or getting beneath the sink and spilling down into the unit. Nobody wants mould growing on a worktop, not with the money invested and if water gets down on cloths, cleaning product cans or an under counter bin, it will lead to a not so rosy smell!

In order to ensure waterproofness when installing an inset sink, and to prevent any possible water damage to the worktop, it is essential to create a watertight seal between the sink and the work surface by applying a sealant around the underneath of the sink’s rim. This sealant could be provided separately, in the form of a tape or it could be pre-installed on the underside οf the rim’s edge.

Pyramis have recently invested in a new patented Polyurethane injection system. The new equipment automatically applies a sealant of polyurethane underneath the sink, thus, the installation of an inset sink becomes much easier and friendlier since, the sealant is pre-installed and is time saving compared to other sealing methods. All our stainless steel sinks come with this patented foam technology in place. Yet another fine example of standards of excellence and dedication Pyramis apply to their production of world class   stainless steel sinks.

In case your wondering - what is Polyurethane?

Polyurethane is a polymerizable liquid which when properly mixed with a special activator becomes a thick, semi-gel which covers the rim of the sink underside and works as an impermeable barrier to water after the installation of the sink.
